Bloggy Giveaways Carnival - A Reader's Journal

The Bloggy Giveaways Carnival is here! What else is there to do in the winter if you have a garden blog but to take part in giveaways? Each quarter Bloggy Giveaways hosts a carnival and I am taking part in the winter edition!

I have decided to giveaway a book called "A Reader's Journal." It's just right for keeping track of the books you've read and your thoughts about each one. You can also make notes on who you've recommended the book to and who you've loaned it to.

So if this journal interests you, here's all you have to do:

1. Leave a comment about why you'd like this journal.

2. For a second chance to win, sign up as an e-mail subscriber with Feedburner or become a Google Follower (see sidebar.) Then leave a second comment telling me you have subscribed or that you are already a subscriber.

3. If you're not a blogger, be sure to leave your contact e-mail address like this to avoid spammers: pianananna(at)gmail(dot)com. If I don't have a way to reach you or you don't respond in three days, your name will be disqualified, and I will choose again, picking my favorite answer.

This contest ends on Friday, January 30, 2009. at noon EST. Good Luck!

Giving Essence Lip Balm Giveaway

I'm a lip balm junkie. Okay I've said it out loud. I can't go anywhere without a tin, stick, or tube of lip balm. I have several in the house at all times in every room, in my purse, and in the glove compartment of the car.
I've had my favorites over the years, but now I've been introduced to
The Giving Essence Lip Balm and I'm sold! It's extra creamy without being greasy, and when I put it on at night before I fall asleep, it lasts well into the morning. With this cold winter we're experiencing and with the dry heat from the furnace, my lips are usually in trouble. But not this year -- they've never been happier!

Diane has done a fabulous job with all of her essential oil products. Here's a direct quote from her web site:

Our all-natural lip balms are specially formulated for dry chapped wintertime lips. With the extra penetrating and gentle power of sweet almond oil in every tin, you’ll find our balms bring maximum softness helping those essential oils go right where they’re needed to deliver healthy, smooth lips.

Once again, Diane is offering a free lip balm to you. You can choose one of five flavors in a 1 oz. tin. She offers Lavender Mint, Lemongrass, Spearmint, Rose Geranium, and Chocolate Mint.

1. Just visit The Giving Essence and come back here to leave a comment about anything on her site.
2. For a second chance to win, sign up as an e-mail subscriber with Feedburner or become a Google Follower (see sidebar.) Then leave a second comment telling me you have subscribed or are already a subscriber.
3. If you're not a blogger, be sure to leave your contact e-mail address like this to avoid spammers: pianananna@gmail(dot)com. If I can't reach you, your name will be disqualified, and I will draw again.
This contest ends on Friday, Jan. 23rd at noon EST. Good Luck!

One World-One Heart Giveaway

I'm taking part in the One World-One Heart Giveaway sponsored by Lisa at A Whimsical Bohemian.
And guess what? That means some good things could be coming your way.
The idea is to bring bloggers from around the world together by giving away something special. This giveaway starts today, January 19th and runs until February 12th when I will draw my winner along with all other participants.
My giveaway is a brand new quilt pattern called "A Red Hat for All My Friends." Of course you could use any colors if you're not in a Red Hat Society, or you can just use the hat, shoes, and gloves patterns separately in another quilt of your choice.
So if you're a quilter or crafter, this should be just the right thing for you. This contest is open to everyone, whether you're a blogger or not.

1. All you have to do is leave a comment, saying how you MIGHT use this pattern (I know, I'm a procrastinator, too.)

2. For a second entry, Sign up to be a subsciber, either as a Google Follower or an e-mail subscriber through Feedburner(see sidebar column), then come back in a separate comment and tell me about it.

3. Be sure your e-mail address is showing if you are not a blogger. I need to contact you if you are a winner. If I don't see an email address, I will move on to someone else. The Drawing is Feb. 12th at noon EST. Good Luck!

House for Sale, Jamestown Michigan

As you can see by my new header, I'm tired of winter now that Christmas has passed. But the good news (or bad news, however you want to look at it)is that we finally have our house listed and it is ready to sell. We've sold lots of furniture since Christmas. The house is definitely looking "thinner," and as I told my husband, it must have lifted up off the ground at least a foot with all of that extra weight gone.

We have found a beautiful log home on a lake that we are very interested in but we can't make an offer until this one sells. In today's market, it's a real shot in the dark that we will get it, but we'll never know unless we try.

There's room for a garden, much smaller, of course, and I'll keep antiques around for sure. I think I'll go to the more primitive area this time.

If you'd like to take a tour of my grand 1907 double Dutch Colonial, go to
Happenstance House and search through the sidebar postings or just click here for easy access to all of the rooms shown. I left some of the non decorated rooms out and decided not to show bathrooms. Have fun and let me know what you think.

Soon I may be able to post pictures of a new house and in the spring I could be starting a new garden! I'm thinking positively. That's my New Year's resolution, and this is one resolution I intend to keep!
