Thankful Thursday -- Friends

Today I'm thankful for friends.

Recently, I have had my eyes opened to the many friends I have. Sometimes I, like my husband, start to think that we have many acquaintances but not many good friends. I know it's important to only have a few truly good friends, rather than to just surround yourself with lots of people who don't really care.
Last night friends came over to buy some garden items from me, and they lent a helping hand while they were here. Tuesday night we went out to dinner with friends we have known for years, and they offered their help with moving a few pieces of furniture. Sunday we spent the afternoon with our church car club and had a ball driving in a caravan of classic cars on a color tour, then ended at the finish line with lots of fun at a restaurant. We have neighbors that will come to our aid if we need it, and I have several close women friends who have been with me through thick and thin even though I don't see them on a daily or even weekly basis.
Moving to a new location will be hard at this stage of my life. Friends are not easy to come by now. But I know that some of the people I am close to here will still visit and maybe I'll be able to meet new people, also -- next door neighbors, new church people, and another car club.
I am thankful for the friends I have now and for the friends that I know God will provide to me in the future.

Good morning Jane Marie, it must be hard to move from a home you've enjoyed so long, beautiful gardens you've poured yourself into, and neighbors you've grown fond of, all things to be thankful for!

Jane Marie - I, like most of us, I suppose, have been through many significant changes in my life . . . where I live, what I do . . . and it can be hard.

I expect leaving your home will be one of the hardest things you ever have to do and I hope it all goes well.

I expect you have new friends waiting for you!

But I think of all the external changes which have happened in the last few years, blogging must be one of the best and most supportive.

Your readers are spread throughout the world. We can't help you move your furniture and we can't take you out for a meal . . . but I hope we will help give an extra sense of continuity between the before and after of your move.

I think, if I were to move, the first thing I would do in my new house would be to turn on the computer!

Friends are really important and you at least know that you can take your blogging friends with you :-) I didn't realize you were moving that much further away from where you are now. I know you will make new friends, because I know how quickly I felt like I wanted to know you just reading your blogs. Sometimes the old friends are hard to hang on to when distance parts you, but God will guide you to new ones you will also love. Good luck on every aspect of the move!

Nicely said, Jane Marie. My dearest friends are those I grew up with and they've all moved to other provinces for school, jobs, etc. And although I have many other people I call 'friends', those are the gals I know would be here in a heartbeat if I needed them. And I'm sure that's the way it will always be. Good luck with your move -- and I'm sure you will make other friends easily. :)

A most touching post, Jane Marie. Good friends are only a thought away and when you meet again, pick up where you left off as though you've never been apart. Besides the wonderful friends surrounding you at home, please know you are also surrounded by many caring friends here in the blogging community. Good luck, dear one.

Hi Jane Marie,
I know moving to a new home is a big adjustment at any age,but I feel that this is going to be a great adventure for you. You seem to be a person who would be easy to get to know. Good Luck on your new adventure.
I too enjoy growing and using herbs, and I wrote your recipe for lavender lip balm down, and will try it as soon as i get to my health store.

Blessing,
Sue

Jane Marie, good friends are treasures, and I'm sure you will still remain friends with many of these people even after you move. Your friends have shown that they are there for you when you need them, and no doubt will continue to be.

Change is always a little frightening, but it can provide some new experiences and a chance to make new friends as well.

Jane Marie, I'm sure you will find new friends. Maybe you'll find yourself living next door to other garden bloggers...wouldn't that be nice?
