Although Lamb and I most often go daylily shopping together, we discovered that we have totally different daylilies. I guess that's because we have different tastes and also different garden needs as far as height and color.
After walking around her garden in the heat, we sat under a shade tree, sipped on some cool punch, and looked at daylily catalogs. I'm glad that I have a friend that shares my passion. It wouldn't be the same without someone to talk about bloom size, scape strength, color, and bloom time.
These are the pictures of Lamb's lovely gardens. They wrap around her historic home which has been in the family for generations. The daylilies are in the large, raised, circle bed in the backyard creating a friendly greeting to everyone who enters the backdoor.
Thank you, Lamb, for a wonderful afternoon. I enjoyed the time we spent together.

Good friends are God's gifts, Jane Marie (as well as beautiful daylilies)! You are most lucky!
Sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon! Love the apricot colored lilies with the purple salvia.
Lamb has a wonderful garden of day lilies. I love all the colors toether and looking so full and lush. What is the red flower? I thought at first it was cosmos, but the leaves aren't the same-whatever it is lovely. As Joey said. great friends are truly a gift.
Beautiful garden. How fortunate you are to have a friend with a garden like that, which you can enjoy without putting in all the work it takes to keep it up :)
You are so lucky to have someone to share your gardening joy...that is the main reason...when I stumbled across Blotanical...that I joined...just to share my excitement. No one in my life feels about gardening as I do. Your friend has a beautiful garden...daylillies are my favorite!
What a bright and colorful cottage garden your friend has, Jane Marie!
Somehow I've managed to friends that were also gardeners, in all the places we lived - 2 gardeners + 1 nursery = many happy hours, doesn't it? I'm glad this is part of your life, too.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. Lamb and I spent the morning in a daylily field today, Aug 8th. We had a lot of laughs and each of us made some new purchases.
Beckie, her red/pink plant is a cosmos. I'm not sure of the variety.
I can't imagine a more pleasant day Jane Marie. I have very few friends who are as passionate as I am about gardening so time spent with them in either of our gardens (or another garden) is precious and valuable indeed. Your garden is beautiful by the way.
Your friend has some really beautiful daylilies and gardens. So great to have a good garden friend!
