This time I will show you what we saw from the tram ride through the sculpture park at Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids Michigan. The cost is $3.00 a person in addition to the entrance fee and well worth the ride. Of course you can walk the same route, but then you miss the guide's commentary, which was very informative as well as fun.

This one is especially for the gardeners. A husband and wife team create sculptures of ordinary household tools.

This next series of four is the pond area stocked with koi and surrounded by plants, shrubs, and trees, some of which are very rare in the world.

You can see how this is inspired by Monet's paintings. The theme this year at Meijer Gardens is Monet.

Just two of the many sculptures to be seen, each with their own story.

A replica of the farmhouse Lena Meijer grew up in as a child. It's surrounded by gardens that are duplicated just as she remembers them.

Even areas with dying trees and wetlands are planned for the wildlife and to keep the ecosystem perfectly balanced.

There's no snobbery here about what is the proper plant for a garden. Native plants and annuals are all included.
Next time I'll take you to the tropics. See you then.
