More Burpee Hats to Give Away

I have three Burpee Garden Hats left to give away to a lucky winner. So far my winners have been chosen from all areas of my blogging contacts. So don't hold back. This could be your lucky day.

1. All you have to do is go to the Burpee website, and tell me what your favorite vegetable is to grow or which one you'd like to try next year. Remember to make your answer interesting; in other words, please don't just write "beans." In case a winner who was chosen at random does not contact me in the allowed amount of time, I will choose my favorite answer as the next one to win a hat.

2. Make sure you leave your email address so I can reach you. You can leave it like this: pianananna(at)gmail(dot)com. This way you won't be a victim of spam.

3. If you would like a second chance to win, sign up as an e-mail subscriber. If you're already a subscriber, you are already entered! Remain a subscriber to be entered in any future giveaways. There's still more to come from Burpee, and others.

The three winners will be drawn on Friday, July 18 at 12:00 PM (noon EDT). I will notify you by e-mail, and then you will have three days to contact me with your mailing address.

And here's something else just for you!!!
Place a $30.00 order at Burpee.com and receive $5.00 off with this special code for Thyme for Herbs readers only!!!
Just type in coupon-code BTH1 at order checkout.

We love to grow tomatoes, strawberries, corn and more. Next year we'll be expanding our garden so hopefully we'll have even more veggies - enough to keep us in salads the whole summer. I find that if I do two or three plantings a lettuce - a couple of weeks apart each - I'll have enough lettuce to last for a couple of months.

Tomatoes, our family enjoys growing these all summer long.

I love an herb garden; rosemary is one of my favorites. It grows into a small bush and comes up year after year. I raise parsley, but would like to succeed with cilantro, too.

My favorite is cherry tomatoes, but next year I'll try zucchini -- I really like vegetables that produce in abundance so that I can share with friends.

I don't want to wait 'til next year but am thinking of trying to grow an interesting variety of cherry tomatoes in my AeroGarden this fall. I couldn't figure out which of the seeds on Burpee's site were for vining varieties and if any were compact bushes -- any advice?

Broccoli...we tried five plants this year for the first time, and we have yellow heads that won't turn green. Plus, I read that all the bugs that eat the outside leaves will leave droppings all over your nice head of broccoli, and you're supposed to really wash them well! After I read that...I'm wondering if I even want to try broccoli again next year. Maybe the Burpee website will have my answer. I'm headed there now!

Donna said...

Carrots, carrots and more carrots. One summer I even turned orange! *LOL* I'm gonna try spinach! Thanks.

I've used Burpee products since I was a child. Mom always used them and told me that they were the best and she's right (of course). I love to grow tomatoes. I now have 8 huge tomatoes plants in my garden and I love to give them to my friends and neighbors. I've been fighting a battle with those nasty looking black grasshoppers but seem to have won the battle for now.
Thank you for the nice giveaway.

I love to grow tomatoes, but I would really like to try some zuchini and yellow squash again. The last two times I tried them the vine borers got to them.

This year we are trying to do a cottage garden in the front and on th e sides of the house. We planted herbs and edibles intermingled. Next year we would like to add some endive, squash, and green beens. We are hoping to do a little more intensive planting, along with some trellis type of things. So we will have plenty to eat and put away, especially with combining some veggies into the herb and flower beds.

Next year we'd like to try tomatoes. We tried two years ago but we had to plant them at the edge of the yard bordering the neighbor's house in order to get enough sun and their kids kept messing with them so they didn't do well at all. This time we'd like to put them on a different side of the house that's safer and gets great sunlight. We want to try a few varieties including heirlooms.
