Burpee Sea Magic Giveaway

Yes, that's right, I have another product from Burpee to tell you about.
Have you heard of their Sea Magic Seaweed Growth Activator? I had not heard of it before a few months ago. So I decided to give it a try. I had just planted my new tomato plants and had not planned to use a fertilizer.
I don't use chemicals on my vegetable plants, so this seemed like just the right product for me. It's actually dried seaweed harvested from the North Atlantic.

All you have to do is pour one package of Sea Magic Seaweed Growth Activator in a gallon of water to make a concentrate.(It smells like the ocean) Then measure the correct amount into water for either outdoor or indoor plants. Add it to your regular feeding program or use alone. When added to water, one package can make up to 30 gallons of growth activator.

Here are my young tomato plants after a heavy rain. I had not started any kind of fertilizer program. June 15, 2008

Here the plants are a little larger, and I put on the cages in preparation for future growth. This is when I started to use the Sea Magic. June 29, 2008

Already there is a remarkable improvement! Click for a closer look and you can see the top of the cages. I had used the Sea Magic only twice. July 17, 2008

Today, on July 27, 2008, you can see how healthy the leaves are. These plants are huge now -- thick, lush, and green! I'm wishing I had used stakes instead of cages. The tomatoes are still green and small, but at this rate it won't be long before I'll have plenty to use in the kitchen.

Here's the good news!

Now I can tell you that I have two packets to give to each of FIVE winners!

1. All you have to do is go to the Burpee website, and tell me what your favorite spring bulb is to grow or which one you'd like to try next year. Remember to make your answer interesting; in other words, please don't just write "tulips." In case a winner who was chosen at random does not contact me within three days of notification, I will choose my favorite answer as the next one to win.

2. Make sure you leave your email address so I can reach you. You can leave it like this: pianananna(at)gmail(dot)com. This way you won't be a victim of spam. Blogger does not show me your email address from your sign-in and there are several contest sites being used so it is impossible for me to know who you are.

3. If you would like a second chance to win, sign up as an e-mail subscriber. If you're already a subscriber, you are already entered! Remain a subscriber to be entered in any future giveaways. There's still more contests to come.

The contest ends on Thursday, July 31 at 11:59 PM (EDT). I will notify you by e-mail, and then you will have three days to claim your prize and send me your mailing address.
Good Luck!!!

Remember that Burpee has a special offer for Thyme for Herbs readers only. You can find it on the sidebar at the top of the page.

My favorite bulbs are gladiolas!! I gave my dad a pkg many years ago, and he loves growing them. He really takes care of them, and as he grows older(83) he keeps cutting back on his veggies and adding to his gladiola garden. He cuts them and takes them everywhere he goes. Hospital, doctor offices, church, etc. It seems over the years, the predominant colors are the ones he gets the most of. They are all beautiful, but I would like to have a few more deep red colors to add to his garden. That is what I would choose. Please enter me for the concentrate. My tomatoes did not do well at all this year. Maybe it would help me. Thanks for the great contest! shjajo(at)aol ( dot)com

I love to plant daffodils (also called jonquils or narcissus). Cheerful yellow or icy white, they are just what I need to see after a long winter. I even love to watch the blue green spears poke out of the ground. When daffodils bloom around Easter, it's like trumpets heralding the Resurrection.

I have lots of bulbs planted. Some come back each season and others don't. I haven't had the best of luck with Crocus, but my tulips and daffodils do great. I guess I'd love to use this product on my tulips so that they will multiple and have lots of blooms.

This looks like a great green way to fertilize a garden, I'd love to try it. Have anymore good green yard tips? We just seeded our lawn but the weeds came in faster than the grass in most areas.

Here's a vote for the yellow crown imperial. Although I'm also going to use in on my amaryllis. I get leaves but no bloom. I wonder if a booster like this would make them bloom.

When we lived in Oregon, we always used to drive out to the Tulip Festival where there were acres and acres of the most gorgeous tulips planted row by row. The colours were so striking and they always had such unique varieties, everything from ones that were almost black, to ones that were very fancily ruffled. For that reason, I would most like to try Burpee's Mixed Tulip package, which looks like it has a lot of different varieties. With enough packages, perhaps we could plant our own mini tulip festival in our backyard to view each spring.

I would LOVE to score a packet of the growth activator!!! I have less than what you would call a "green thumb", so I could use all the help I can get!!!! I went online to Burpee, and I was AMAZED at what they had to offer.... I LOVED the Allium Gladiators, the dutch Iris, blue and white poppy anemones, the lily tango hybids mix, the checkered lillies (is that the proper plural spelling for lily?), and the sweet pepper flavorburst hybrid!!!! I only WISH that I had the horticultural talent to actually sustain any form of plant/vegetable/flower growth... I DID manage to grow a few wimpy tomatoes.... but even those were, shall we say, less than spectacular..... so, if you could find it in your heart to help a "garden challenged" individual... I would promise to keep you updated on my attempts, with photos.... speaking of... I LOVE waking up, and seeing pictures of your "cotillion"... I live my garden dream vicariously through you!!!! Keep up the fantastic work.... kudos.... Constance

The checkered lily is so pretty and elegant! I've never seen anything like it.

I would love to try these as I've been having issues with my geraniums this year. We may have had too much rain.

What if I really do like Tulips? I do like to plant tulips but not the typical red and yellow that everyone has. Is it just around here that people do that? I like the black ones or recently I had a garden of purple and white ones. It was beautiful!

I little more interesting I would love to try some of the Giant alliums! They look interesting and would add some great texture to my garden.

The seaweed looks great! I have been trying to find better options then the typical fertilizers out there!!

I would love to order the Tulip Purple Passion Blend. Purple is my favorite color and tulips are so beautiful when they come up in the spring. What could be better. :D

When I moved to my first real home, my dad came from NC and planted tons of irises around my house. A few years later, he started coughing (never smoked or drank). He was given 9 months to live and suffered 8 months before we lost him. That spring I had over 500 iris blooms. (sniffle!) But since then its gone down, those bugs are in my bulbs and I am trying to get rid of them. But I love my irises. (Sorry so long).
