Herbs and Knees

The herbs are at their best right now. I think I have to start harvesting some. If you know about herbs you can probably sort them out here. I was trying to be artistic and I sat on the ground to get these photos. I should have known that I would have trouble getting up again. Good thing I was in the backyard and all alone. Those darn knees!!!!

Anyway, you might be able to see oregano in the front, then some feverfew, lovage, parsely, mint. Maybe you can see the sage, I'm not sure.

This one shows the fennel popping up in odd places. The hyssop is in there somewhere too. Now whatever happened to the chamomile? Of course you can't see the thyme and choclolate mint; they're too close to the ground. In the background is some lemon balm. I had to really thin that out and keep it in one clump. I do it several times a year; it's very aggressive, but worth it. I don't mind, it smells good while I'm pulling. The lavender is on the other side of this greenery, just now starting to bloom.
Oh, how sweet my garden smells. I'm think I'm inspired to cook!!!!

Hi Jane Marie,

Oh...your herb garden is to swoon for, really!! I bet it is fun to just run your hands all through those wonderful plants and wait for the smells to surround you!! Your mints are looking great ~ I finally got chocolate mint, too!! Now, I can't contain it; it has a mind of its' own and wants to run!!

Thanks for picking me for the meme ~ I'll work on it this weekend for an upcoming post. Did I thank you for the sweet things you wrote about me in your award post? If I didn't I meant to ~ you were so sweet! I've just been so behind with everything this week and haven't gotten to visit with my favorite friends like you!!

Going over to check out your glorious honeysuckle ~ so pretty and so fragrant!!

Lots of Hugs and Honeybees (to pollinate),
Bebe :)

P.S. I just checked my comments and saw your's. I knew you'd get a chuckle out of the little piggie with this wellies!! :)

I just love herbs. I don't have many, but what I do have grows nicely. Many years ago I planted a small pot of Oregano, and that small pot has grown all over the yard. It smells so nice when we mow the grass.

Jane Marie,

Your herb garden is to die for!
You have quite a bounty. I can almost smell your garden through your photo.

I hope your knees have recovered from their excitement!

I have a few herbs in pots on my patio in the sunniest spots I can find. They don't get as big as they would in full sun, but they do grow and provide us with lovely summer scents as well as flavoring our meals and providing their health benefits. Summer wouldn't be quite the same without them.

Jane Marie-
Looks like you've got a great variety of herbs! One of my goals this year was to increase the amount of herbs in my garden; so far I'm behind on that goal but there's still time!

Now I know how/why your blog got its name!!! You have an herb patch the envy of everyone. Looks like they are none the worse for all the rain?

Your herbs look wonderful! I just love growing herbs. They seem so easy and carefree compared to some other garden choices. And there are so many benefits that you just can't beat it!
