Here it is, my first daylily of the season -- Moonlit Masquerade! I showed it last year but I was just so excited to see the first bloom, I wanted to share it with you. This is the first year the colors are more accurate to the description in books. It's described as an early/midseason, semievergreen, tetraploid. Ivory-cream self with very dark purple eye and picotee. (For those of you who are not into daylilies, the eye is the center and the picotee is the edging.) This particular bloom isn't showing much picotee, but that happens once in a while. Click on the picture to enlarge it, and you can see it on a few petals.
I don't plan to show repeats of the same daylilies as last year. From now on I'll just post the newbies that I didn't get photos of last summer, and new purchases (and believe me, there will be some)if they have blooms.
For other daylilies in my garden go to "Labels" in the sidebar and click on "daylilies."

Beautiful, I love those warm colours together.
that's a beauty !
I actually have this variety for sale at work. I may have to buy one to plant in my garden at home!
I did enlarge it. And it's so beautiful! I've never seen this color before.

You can post all the pictures of day lilies you want! I love them. I have several new ones planted this year too. But not even a bud stalk yet. This one is especially lovely and I'll bet the ones it puts forth next will each be slightly different. To me, that is part of the joy of raising them.
I love the green eye and dark markings. That one is a beauty. The first to bloom here will be the Stellas and I really don't love that color but they are heavily budded this year!
Beautiful color, and who could resist a plant with a name like that?!
I have only Stella lilies, which I love, but I'd like to have some different colors like this one. The only problem is that my Stellas have gotten so big I'm going to have to divide them, so I don't know where I'd plant new ones!
I didn't realize Moonlit Masquerade was supposed to have picotee edging. Mine has never had it. I only have two daylilies that are sending up scapes right now, Moonglow (always my earliest) and Siloam Plum Tree.
You have a great sense of restraint, not posting repeat photos from year to year. There will be no such restraint on my blog when the time comes. If I have too many blooms in a day, I'll just make a collage and post that. I live for daylilies, and it's great to find someone who shares my passion. :)
It is perfectly named. What a beauty!
It's just beautiful Jane Marie! Congrats on your first daylily bloom of the season!
