My Gardening Buddies

My gardening buddies, the wrens, are back. I was thrilled to see them making themselves at home in a few of the new birdhouses we had placed in tree branches.

This red house was a yard sale purchase for fifty cents. Can you believe it? Duane gave it a fresh coat of paint early on in the year, and we let it air out completely so the paint fumes could dissipate.

Within two day of hanging it outside, I heard that sweet song and knew at least one wren was in my yard. Soon there she was, busy at work, making her nest, preparing for a new family. She'd drop down to the ground and pick up pine needles and then back to the house.

She was so fast it was hard to catch her, but soon enough I figured out that if I just pointed the camera at the opening, I could click when I saw the movement from her wings. I was basically shooting blind. So I was very excited to see these results. Click on the photo for a closer look at her. Isn't she sweet?

Sing away, my pretty. I love to hear your happy warble.

Hi Jane ~

Don't yard sale finds make the best birdhouses? I love to get one like that and fix it up (repaint it). I don't know how people can sell them on their sales, though. Do they just get tired of watching the birds? I never do! :)

That was a great photo capture of the little wren in her new home. You should send it to Birds and Blooms magazine. They would probably feature it!! Lovely!!

Hugs, Bebe :)

Nice shots Jane Marie! Nice bargain on the bird house too.

I love to go outside around 5:00 a.m. to listen to the bird symphony greeting the sunrise.

There are a lot of trees surrounding the nursery where I work. There's usually classical music playing in one of the greenouses, and it makes a lovely compliment to the the bird songs.
