Mother's Day Gift

Duane surprised me with a Mother's Day Gift on Friday. A gift certificate to my favorite greenhouse. He gave it to me early because Daughter No.1. took me to the greenhouse and then to lunch. He wanted me to have a chance to use it while I was there.

Well, what could I do? I had to! These are the plants I came home with. I got a Gallery Red Delphinium, Gallery Pink Delphinium, Louisiana Mix Water Iris, Tiny Hope Asiatic Lily (actually a birthday gift from a friend), Bee Balm, and two Lupines and the one on the lower right that I can't remember the name of right now. It's raining and the tags are in the potting shed. The lower right one is new to me; I just thought the flower looked interesting so I tried it. You can be a little more adventurous when the money is given to you, I think.

Duane helped me all day with the mulch yesterday. We're almost done. I planted everything and today the knees are aching. It was more difficult this year than ever before but I forge on. Nothing can keep me from my garden. Thanks Duane for the very thoughtful gift.

A nice collection of plants which will remind you all summer and maybe longer of a happy mothersday.

What a sweetie you have. He really knew what you wanted as opposed to getting you perfume or candy. And on top of that he helped in the garden. I'd say he's a keeper!

There's nothing more fun than going to the garden center with free money. Relieves all the guilt (if there was any chance of it)and makes the shopping twice as fun. Looks like you did a fine job picking out some new things. It will be fun watching them grow up. Happy Mother's Day.

That sounds like a fantastic Mother's Day to me Jane Marie. You purchased some wonderful plants with your gift certificate!
Can't wait to see future pictures of them.

Sounds like you have a very thoughtful family. Gift certificates to nurseries or garden centers are my favorite gifts, too.

You are so welcome. It was hard work, my back ached, but it felt so good to see the beauty of our work that it made it all worth while! Love, Duane.

Great gift, I got to give a hint to my kids, Father’s day is coming. I agree with Meems there is nothing better than free money in garden center. I hope you had a great mother’s day.
