My 100th Post Giveaway

Well, here I am. At the 100 post mark. I never thought I would make it. Especially since I took off a few months this winter. But none the less, I persisted and now at least I can say I made it to the big round number. So to celebrate I am having a giveaway.

I started looking back at earlier posts and decided to clean up and add to my links and blogrolls. I also input more of my books in The Library Thing. (If you haven't done so, please take a stroll through my library. You'll find the link on the left.)

I came across a book that I haven't looked at in a while. It's called Souvenirs de Fleurs and it's a pressed flower keepsake book. I had forgotten how many flowers I had pressed and kept stored in the glycine pages. One thing I noticed was that I had neglected to journal about them though this book has blank pages just for that purpose. I do keep another journal where I notate my new purchases and trips to daylily gardens with my friend, Linda. But I am very lazy about other notes I should be keeping, such as the weather conditions, when I last purchased mulch, etc.

So here's the deal: Leave a comment on this post and tell me whether you keep a garden journal and what kind. Each comment will receive one entry. If you link back to my blog in your new post on your blog, let me know and you will be given two entries. What's the Prize? This wonderful new Garden Journal and 4 flower seed packets. The contest ends on Wednesday, March 5th at noon EST. Good luck and thank you for visiting me. Blogging this past year and a half has been a blast.

I never thought about keeping a garden journal. However I do like what you did with pressing flowers and keeping them. I may do it this year.

My journal reminds me from year to year what I've planted and had success with.

I don't keep one, but would like to.

Presently I do not keep a garden journal. It is a very good idea though, it would improve my gardening techniques if I had one.

My garden blog is my garden journal. I originally started it because I knew I would never successfully keep a book journal. I think my garden blog is good for keeping track of stuff though, especially since I take a lot of photos. And the great bonus has been that an online journal lets me connect with many other garden bloggers.

I keep a photo journal of the vegetable garden-early, mid season and harvest time. This helps prevent planting the same items in the same spot each year.

No journal, but every year I take photos of the garden before I begin, midway through, and again when it is in full bloom. Each year I scrapbook a few pages about my garden so I can look back and see what I did that year by looking at the scrapbook.

I keep my garden journal as a part of my daily journal; it is interesting to look back and reflect how mygardening affected other aspects of my life and vice versa.

Hi, Please do not enter me in this giveaway - not that it's not a cool giveaway, but because I'm not much of a gardener :) I wouldn't want to lessen the chance of someone who'd appreciate this more. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know about another blog contest, hosted by "An Alameda Garden", which is having is book giveaway - The Curious Gardener's Almanac. Thought you and your readers might like it (if you haven't heard of it yet) - the book contest and the blog. Take care! :)

You know, I never thought of it that way, but I DO keep a journa.... It's just a spiral notebook that I use to keep track of what works and what doesn't; my garden layouts from year to year and what's planted where... That beautiful flower book should go to someone more worthy, though.... so you can keep my name out of the contest...

I keep one, actually it's a bunch that I've compiled over the years. It has tons of info in it-what plant varieties worked for me and which didn't, pressed flowers and leaves, photos, bits of interesting info, folklore, strange and unusual new plants, recipes for edible plants, sketches I did. It's wonderful to look back through them to see how much my garden has evolved over the years.

Now that I have a blog, I use it more for this purpose. Since last summer was my first one blogging, it will be fun to go back and compare this year. Good to have you back!

Good morning, I keep pressed flowers too. My journal is in a 3 ring binder so that pages can be added. I keep seed packets, articles from the newspaper, notes when seeds are planted and how well they grow, plant tags, photos and other things. The plastic pages that hold sport cards or 35 mm slides are wonderful for tucking in various bits of paper that seem to accumulate. I would love to be entered into your give away.
